One spot available on my trip to Perigord, France

La Combe

La Combe

There is one spot available on my September 29 to October 6 trip to Perigord. In this beautiful setting,  I will be teaching classes, exploring local markets, tasting wine at a chateau, visiting an artisan goat farm and much more — with eight students. Of course there will be many excellent meals both at the house and at restaurants in the neighboring towns. This lovely little week takes place at “La Combe,” a maison de maitre (gentleman’s house) set amid 30 acres of farmland and woods in a secluded valley close to the Vezere River and the little town of Eyzies.

to quote from the brochure:

“On one side is a beautifully restored Perigordine stone barn, which provides four self -contained split-level apartments, each with its own private entrance onto the courtyard. Each apartment has a sitting room and a bedroom individually furnished with antiques, with a luxuriously appointed American standard en suite bathroom. Alongside the guest wing is a large, south-facing swimming pool which enjoys the sun all day long.

Opposite is the main house, offering a large drawing room with a massive stone fireplace, an inviting dining room, and a cozy book lined library. Also, in the main house is the newly converted 400-square foot French country-style kitchen…The kitchen opens onto a potager garden, which provides a wide variety of French herbs as well as freshly grown seasonal vegetables.

and if that didn’t get you yet, keep reading:

…a fully stocked and unrestricted wine and aperatif bar is open day and night in the drawing room. Freshly brewed coffee, tea and cookies are always available in the kitchen…”

Your fee includes all accommodation, food and wines at La Combe and at selected restaurants, admissions to local venues, local transportation and group transfers, and hands on cooking instruction with me.

There are many airports you can fly to and then drive or train it to La Combe. I recommend flying to Paris and spending a day or two there before taking the fast train down to Perigord. I think Paris is the most beautiful city in the world (at least of the the cities I have seen). I am bringing the husband to help out and I am sure it will be so much fun.

I am posting this now so that if you are interested you can start setting aside a little money for next fall.
